Clear leaders in Senior League

Posted on

Fochabers took full advantage of the rained-off draw between Forres & Buckie at Grant Park to pull clear of the chasing pack at the top of the NoSCA Senior League, sponsored by Black Dog Financial Services.

On a day of rain & showers over the north, Fochabers made 189 in 45 overs without any major contributions with the bat. This proved way too much for the unpredictable Elgin batting, who were shot out for just 38 thanks to 5 wickets from Adam Stockwell and three from Hemant Mandal.

Over at Grant Park, Buckie made 167 for seven in their alloted overs but the rains came with the game evenly poised - Forres on 36 for 2 at the time.

Highland continued their good form to move within 3% points of Forres in third place with a comfortable victory over Fort William at Fraser Park. With Highland still to play all the top 3 before the end of the season (including Forres & Buckie at home), they are still in with a outside chance of the title themselves.

In the basement battle between Nairn and Ross County at the Links, the home side could only muster 55 all out with Matt Barron (4 wickets), Paul Moxon (3) and James Andrews (2) leading the way for the Staggies. Despite the presence of Aberdeenshire bowler Adrian Neill in the home side, the visitors reached their target for the loss of 6 wickets to move up to sixth in the league.
