Code
of Conduct – 2001
1.
The Captains are responsible at all times for ensuring
that play is conducted within the spirit of the game
as well as within the laws.
2.
It is the responsibility of each club to acquaint
their officials and players to the appropriate Codes of Conduct.
3.
Players and team officials shall not at any time
engage in conduct unbecoming which could bring them or the game into disrepute

Players and team officials must at all times accept
the Umpire’s decision. Players must not show dissent at the
Umpire’s decision.
5.
Players and team officials shall not intimidate, assault or attempt to intimidate an umpire,
another player or spectator.
6.
Players and team officials shall not use crude or
abusive language (known as ‘sledging’) nor make offensive gestures.
7.
Players and team officials shall not use or in any way
be concerned in the use or distribution of illegal drugs.
8.
Players and team officials shall not disclose or
comment upon any alleged breach of the code or upon any hearing, report or
decision arising from such breach.
9.
Players and team officials shall not make any public
pronouncement or media comment which is detrimental either to the game in
general; or to the umpires or their opponents in a particular match in which
they are involved; or to other clubs in competition with them; or to relations
between other clubs in competition with them.
10.
Players and team officials shall not engage, directly
or indirectly, in betting, gambling or any form of financial speculation on the
outcome of any cricket match to which this code applies and in which the player
is a participant or with which a team official is associated or on any event
which shall be connected with any such cricket match the purpose (or pretended
purpose) of which is to benefit such player or team official either directly or
indirectly, whether financially or otherwise. Players and team officials shall
not accept any form of inducement which may be considered to be likely to
affect the performance of any player in any such cricket match adversely.
11.
Team officials are not to enter the field of play,
except in the case of injury to players, during the hours of play or drink
intervals.
12.
Application. Interpretation and Enforcement of the
Code.
The Code shall
apply to players and, where applicable, to team officials of both teams for all
tournaments played under the jurisdiction of Scottish Cricket Limited.
It is the
responsibility of each club to acquaint their players and team officials to the
appropriate Code of Conduct.
Breaches of
the Code shall be deemed also to include a breach of any SCL/SNCL Regulation in
force from time to time.
The Code,
breach of which may render a player or team official liable to disciplinary
action, shall be enforced in accordance with SCL’s disciplinary and
appeals procedures and guidelines.
